Genevieve Brudzinski Obituary

Brudzinski, Genevieve "Jean" COLUMBIA, Md. Genevieve "Jean" Brudzinski, died peacefully on October 13, 2007 at Brighton Gardens in Columbia. She was 86. She was born on January 21, 1921, in Rosochate Zalesie, Poland to Helen and Joseph Lipski. She grew up in Schenectady, N.Y. and graduated from Nott Terrace High School. She married Stanley Brudzinski in 1946. She worked at the American Locomotive Company and later at Weber Construction Company, both in Schenectady. She moved to Columbia in 1993. She is remembered by her family and friends as an energetic woman whose kindness and engaging sense of humor brightened many lives. She was an excellent cook and loved to prepare elaborate meals for her family. She took great delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her sisters, Josephine Chovanec and Sophie Olsen. Survivors include her daughter, Lynne Stankus and husband Gerald of Kennett Square, Pa.; her son, Tom and his wife Jan Brudzinski of Orr's Island, Maine. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Marc Brudzinski, Mike Brudzinski, Maureen Brudzinski and her husband Piotr Dworak, Brian Stankus and his wife Janet, parents of great-grandchildren Elise and Nathan Stankus, and Chris Stankus. Jean is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 27, 2007 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 828 Eastern Avenue in Schenectady. She will be interred in St. Mary's Cemetery, also in Schenectady. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Genevieve's memory to Hospice of Howard County, 5537 Twin Knolls Rd., Columbia, MD, 21045.
