Vincent Britt Obituary

Britt, Vincent W. STILLWATER Vincent W. Britt, 87, of High Street, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at home, after being stricken. A native and lifelong resident of Stillwater, he was born July 22, 1920, son of the late Edward and Ella Cunningham Britt, and husband of the late Elizabeth Kinisky Britt. Mr. Britt worked as a machinist for the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. in Mechanicville, until the plant closed in 1971. He also was a dairy farmer and bred and trained horses. Vincent enjoyed vegetable gardening, and shared his produce with his family, neighbors and friends. During World War II, Vincent served with the US Coast Guard. Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Filardo and her fianc? Jeff Tompkins of Brockport; a granddaughter, Courtney and husband Christopher Curtis of Houston, Texas; sisters, Jean (Al) Osborne of Stillwater and Dorothy (Tom) SantaBarbara of Saratoga Springs; along with nieces and nephews. Vincent was also predeceased by his three brothers Edward, Lloyd and Matthew Britt. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, No. Hudson Ave., Stillwater with burial in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Friday from 5-7 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Stillwater Rescue Squad, PO Box 580, Stillwater, 12170.
