Angelo Di Sorbo Obituary

Di Sorbo, Angelo SCHENECTADY, N.Y. Angelo Di Sorbo, 86, formerly of 4th Street, Schenectady, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany after a short illness. Born in Italy, Angelo was the son of the late Nicholas Di Sorbo and Rose Falzerano Di Sorbo Calverese. A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, he attended Union College and was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Angelo worked for GE Flight Test for over 19 years and later retired from Large Steam Turbine in 1981. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Schenectady where he was a Eucharistic minister, lector, usher and charter member of the Parish Council and Holy Name Society. Angelo was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Knights of Columbus Council 201, the Quarter Century of the GE and a charter member of the board of the Schenectady Community Action Program. Angelo was predeceased in 1990 by his first wife, Claire (Daigle) Di Sorbo and a daughter, Angela Di Sorbo in 2005. He is survived by his wife Gladys Northrup DiSorbo who he married in May of 1992; his children, Nicholas J. Di Sorbo (Jama) of Garner, N.C., Philip G. Di Sorbo (Cindy) of Ghent, N.Y., Paula Borchardt (Howard) of Schenectady, Pamela Panos of Schodack, N.Y, Shelley Mantello of Schenectady and Janet Shay (Jimmy) of Danielson, Conn.; a stepson, Daniel Northrup (Christine) of Saratoga; 16 grandchildren and many great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12 at 9:15 a.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady followed at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Bradt St., Schenectady where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville, N.Y. Contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Bradt St., Schenectady, NY 12306 or to Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
