Mom I was at prayer last night and my Pastor made an announcement that took me back five years and it reminded me of you twelve years ago of how faithful God is;) I love you and miss you so much.... Thank you for praying for me when I did not care to pray for myself.... Thank you for showing me while I was very young what a prayer closet really is..... Thank you for believing in me when I did not believe in myself..... Thank you for never being selfish and always giving of yourself...... Even though we did not always see eye to eye on a lot of things I thank you for everything..... Thank you for the little side notes that you have left in your old Bible because they are all for me...... Thank you for doing your best and being the mother that you could be to me.......
I have finally moved out of NY to NC and I love it;) I have found my church and I thank God for it everyday I think that you would be proud of the person that I am becoming, I say becoming because I know that God is not through with me and I know that your prayers for me are still being answered even though you are not here to see them;) You are forever in my heart I love you always!!!

Sis Hilts was an angel and a saint of saints. I still carry her picture in my bible. Sometimes I would give her a hard time chasing her with snakes and things, but she never said a cross word to me and always took care of me at dinner time. I pray I die the death of the righteous and that my end will be as hers. I miss that saint.

Mom,
Wow, to this day, three years later, I still can't believe your gone. There are days when I pick up the phone to call you and time when I want to run down to the house to see what you want to do for the day, like I have always done, then I realize that your not here. Then I just burst out into tears. My Mom, My best friend is no longer here and has gone on to place where there is no more pain and suffering .....then I smile and remember the song you sang " This World is Not My Home"........You're in that place where we are all striving to get to..... I miss you soooooo much, Mom. I miss your encouraging words, I miss everything we did together as mother and daughter.......... I will never forget what you taught me. And I pray that God helps me to be the kind hearted person, you where to me, to my kids and all those I come in contact with.
I love you and miss you dearly!!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember my summer in Albany, being just a teenager. Many days were spent with your mom....just the two of us and it gave me the opportunity to know a wonderful woman and learn so much about life...it was important at that age...Thank God for such a woman and for the memory. This is the reason that when we reconnected I found it important to send my regards to your mother. I was surprised and saddened by your response. God knows best so keep your memories close to your heart as you will have some good days and always some bad days...Helen

To Linay, Alton, Latiya, Lakeisha, Haywood and other offspring. What a truly wonderful, Godly legacy your mom has left for all of you children to follow. She loved God and kept the faith alive to the very end. Oh, but was it the end? No it was just the beginning as she so often expressed in the words to her favorite song "I can't feel at home in this world anymore". How truly overjoyed she would be to see all of you children pick up the blood stained banner and make a stand for Jesus. Her desire for you all is to see you make it into Heaven. Her life was and continues to be an inspiration that resonates throughout time. She remained non-judgmental and showed no respect of person when it came to her kindness and generosity. As she was very much aware that her time here on earth was coming to an end, she continued to sing praises unto the Almighty God and inspire and encourage others. What a priceless example for our life.

To the Fam,
The Moore Family is eternally grateful to your Mom. She was a friend to me and a sister. I can't count the number of times I would come home from work and she would have my three kids and feed them and she always had a smile and would say Trice don't worry about it. And if it was snowing she would make a place for me to sleep to make sure I wasn't driving to Albany alone with my children in the snow. She was a blessing in my life especially when Lowes moved back home first to set up house and I stayed behind for the kids to finish the year in school. I will always remember her and miss her. To her legacy of children and grandchildren thank you for sharing her.... I love you all.... God Bless.... Trice (and all the Moore's--Lowes Jr. , Miche, Reyllie, Lowes III and Isaiah.

To Linay and family ,your mom made me feel at home whenever I came to Troy to visit. She was truley a "Woman of God"(Ps.31) . When I spoke to her in her final days(here on earth) she was so encouraging to me.I find it hard not to ask about her because its as if she's still here even when I came up there in July 2009.
To OUR grandchildren: MeeMa loved you all so much just as I do but always remember the values she taught you and to keep God first in all that you do.
Love you MeeMa in Chicago

The one thing that I learned from aunt Dorothy is that for one she can sing.but most importantly is that she was a fighter, she never gave up on anything. She loved everybody, but the person she loved the most besides her husband was God.She love him with all her heart until the end.She was a great example all of us.Another thing that I learned about her was that she was a great cook. She was such a great cook that I thought my taste buds were starting to dance.I miss aunt Dorothy and I will never forget her, ever!

To Haywood, Windley family, and the Redemption Church family,
I am just finding out about Sister Dorothy's passing. Your mother was such a joy to know. I remember when you (Haywood) was a part of the Capital District Youth Mass Choir (along with other members from redemption). Your mother ALWAYS had a kind and encouraging word to say to me. I bless the Lord for her legacy and life. Remember to honor the Lord Jesus as your mother did. The best way to honor your mother is to honor the Lord Jesus.
God bless you and please know that I am praying for you and your family.
Much love

Sis. Dorothy Windley was a wonderful woman of God. She was a very dedicated and loving mother, wife and friend. She was also a great cook (I miss her collard greens and BBQ chicken -- mmmmmm!!)
She had a heart that was always giving to others. When my mother was sick with cancer, Sis. Dorothy came every Sunday afternoon, after church to visit my mom in the Hospice unit at St. Peter's Hospital. Sis. Dorothy also would take the time to bring over a plate of her wonderful home cooking to my mother a least once a week.
I remember her singing in the choir - "This world is not my home". She will be greatly missed. I know that she is at rest and finally at HOME!!

Aunt Dottie.....there is so much to be said and not enough time to say it. I loved her with all my heart because she showed me so much love that was unconditional. She was an example of a true and faithful friend, aunt, mother, wife, and most importantly, woman of God. I thank God for giving me the time to prepare for your departure and consequently, I have no regrets because I was blessed to spend many of your last precious moments with you. I love you and your remaining family. Enjoy heaven!

Aunt Dot,
Your life has truly been a blessing to me. You are one of the most sincere and non judging people that I have ever known. It already seems too long for you to be gone. We miss you and will always love you. I just hope that my life sparks half the inspiration in others that yours has. I know that you are now resting in the peace of God and that brings much joy to the sense of loss in having you gone. We will meet again and what a glorious day it will be.

I Thank God For Sis Windley, the life she lived really gave me a different perspective about excuses. She was a great singer and even through her illness, she never made an excuse not to sing. I am really inspired by her courage and faith in God, that no matter how she felt she still made a Joyful noise unto the LORD. To her family may God continue to Bless you all. In Jesus Name
