Cecile Gilbert Obituary

Gilbert, Cecile R. COHOES Cecile R. Collier Gilbert, 83, of Cohoes, died Monday, November 12, 2007 at her daughter's residence embraced by her loving family. Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Ida Maynard Collier and wife of the late John H. Gilbert who died on April 18, 2007. Cecile was a lifelong resident of Cohoes and attended the former St. Joseph School. She was employed for over 20 years as a machine operator with Troy District Shirt Co. and retired in 1987 after 15 years of employment at Swan Knit. Cecile was dedicated to her family and home. She especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and socializing with her family and friends. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Sheryl Gilbert and her husband John of Cohoes; cherished grandchildren, Stacy, Brittany and Matthew (Lisa) Robinson, great-granddaughter, Madison Robinson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Laura Brignola, Lea Donato, Irene Jarvis, Leo and Samuel Collier. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Thursday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Joseph Church, Cohoes at 9:00. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Those wishing to remember Cecile may make contributions in her memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany NY 12209-2083.
