Michael Czupil Obituary

Czupil, Michael MALTA Surrounded by his adoring family, Michael Czupil, a supportive son, devoted husband, caring father and loving grandfather passed peacefully on November 22, 2007. The beloved son of Katherine and Alexander Czupil, Michael was born on September 17, 1920 in a farm house in Greenfield Center. Taken with the country lifestyle and natural beauty of Saratoga, Mike's father purchased a farm just off Saratoga Lake in 1926. Mike was eager to help work the farm. He quickly exhibited enormous ambition, endless drive, and an unstoppable desire to "do every job the right way" characteristics that would define Mike his entire life. After graduating from the local one-room school house, Mike attended Saratoga High School where he earned varsity letters in baseball and soccer. He graduated in 1939. A carpenter by trade, Mike enjoyed a 35-year career at General Electric, Schenectady. In 1946, Mike joined other concerned residents and founded the Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. As a charter member with over 50 years of active service, records show Mike filled out the very first application to the department. Mike married Barbara Chonard in 1951. They spent the next 55 years never far from one another's side until Barbara's passing on November 25, 2006. In a lasting show of devotion, Mike had Barbara's stone engraved with "Our Love is Forever." Warm, generous and inviting people, Mike and Barb were always quick to open their door to company. They were also active members of the Eagles Club, and enjoyed boating, listening and dancing to music, snowmobiling, and taking their sons camping. Mike looked forward to deer hunting each fall and he loved going fishing. Later in life, Mike enjoyed the many fine activities hosted by Maplewood Manor, going to Bingo with his sons, and attending with great love his granddaughter's soccer games. Michael is survived by his sons, Michael S. Czupil and his wife Nancy, Gary Czupil and his wife Paula, Eric Czupil and his wife Debbie; and by his granddaughters, Erin and Payton. As the ultimate caregiver, the well being of his family was always Mike's main focus. He often went without so that family members could benefit. With his thoughtful protection, Mike brought his family great joy and comfort - enriching each member's life. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mike's life. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, November 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. All are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, November 28 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, on Milton Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Malta Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Malta Ridge Fire Company, 5 Hearn Road, Malta, NY, 12020.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your
memories bring you comfort. I know my grandmother thought very highly of both your parents and Mike saved my grandmother on several occasions. Words can't describe what a wonderful neighbor he was to her and how much my family appreciated his kindness. He was a hard worker and may he rest in peace.
