Mary Schofield Obituary

Schofield, Mary F. COHOES Mary Frances Schofield, 78, of Ontario Street, Cohoes, died at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 after a short illness. She was born and educated in Troy and was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Frances Gainey Ryan. She was secretary to the former city of Cohoes Mayor, Ronald Canestrari and was involved with Cohoes City Democrats and was Democratic Committeewomen for the 3rd Ward. She was a former Cohoes Columbiette and was involved with Sister Parent Association at St. Bernard's and Keveny Memorial Academy. Wife of the late James H. Schofield. Mother of James Schofield of Troy, John Schofield of Cohoes, Kathryn Giuliano of Scotia and Thomas Kirk Schofield of Cohoes; sister of Joan Zampino of Clifton Park, Catherine Curran of Loudonville, Helen Lynch of Clifton Park and Frank Ryan Jr. of Troy; grandmother of Richard Schofield, Kayleen Peat, Sarah Schofield and Jillian Giuliano; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday, 8:15 a.m. from the Dufresne Funeral Home Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes and 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. For directions and guest registry, dufresnefuneralhome.com

To the family of mary.

my father just gave me the news of marys passing. i can not tell you how deeply sad i am to hear that you have lost such a wounderful loving person. i only got to know mary when i took care of her in the hospital at st. marys. and with talking with her on her visits there
i learned dhe lived in the same biulding as my dad. from there we biult such a sweet dear friend ship. what a joyful lady even being sick. please know that she is now in a much better place and know longer in pain. that she will always be remembered in our lifes and hearts forever. if there is anything i can do to help please contact me. god bless

Mary was a sweetheart! When Jim was president of the firefighter's union she was always available to aid him in any way she could while still being a terrific frontrunner for Ron. She will be missed by all who knew her.
