Carmen Scerbo Obituary

Scerbo, Carmen S. LATHAM Carmen S. Scerbo, 88, formerly of Cohoes and most recently of Latham, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Eddy Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes embraced by his devoted wife. Born in Catanzaro, Italy, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Trapasso Scerbo and beloved husband of Louise Hugron Scerbo of Latham and husband of the late Albina Scerbo. Carmen came to the United States when he was a young boy at the age of six. He graduated from Mechanicville High School in 1937 and attended Hudson Valley Community College. He retired from the Watervliet Arsenal as a steel worker in 1971 after 30 years of employment. Prior to that, he worked at Alco in Schenectady. Carmen enjoyed gardening and was very proud of gardening skills. He was a member of the Colonie Elks and was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham. Carmen appreciated all the loving and outstanding care he received from the Eddy Ford Nursing Home nurses and staff. His family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone at the Eddy Ford who supported them and made his stay comfortable, peaceful and loving. In addition to his wife, Louise, he is survived by his loving son, Joseph J. Scerbo of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Kathleen Mossey and her husband Charles of Cohoes and Patricia Crispell and her husband Frank of Mechanicville; sister, Mary Bove of Latham; five great-grandchildren, and five stepdaughters. He is survived by nieces and nephews and a very loving and caring nephew, John (Susan) Bove who was also very supportive of Carmen and Louise. He was predeceased by his brother, Samuel Scerbo. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, Monday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Ambrose Church Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-6 p.m.

Dear Louise and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences at the death of your husband/father Carmen. Louise, I was not aware that Carmen was in a nursing home. I remember him very vividly attending Mass at St. Ambrose. May he rest in peace.
