Charles Stealey Obituary

Stealey, Charles Ray GUILDERLAND, N.Y. Charles Ray "Sudsy" Stealey, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth Stealey. Mr. Stealey was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines. He worked for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Local 294, for 42 years, before his retirement in 1991. Sudsy was a longtime member of the Guilderland Elks. He enjoyed his camp in Nassau and especially loved spending time with family and friends. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Alice E. Stealey. He is the devoted father of Chuck (Betty) Stealey, Robert (Sandra) Stealey, David (Donna) Stealey, Donald (Debbie) Stealey, Richard (Susan) Stealey and "Daddy's Little Girl," Patty (Bill) Durand. He was predeceased by his son, James Stealey. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt.155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Charles R. Stealey.
