Lawrence, Alan F. CLIFTON PARK Alan F. Lawrence, of London Square Drive, formerly of Lawrence Circle, beloved husband of Ruth E. Cozzens Lawrence of Clifton Park, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007 at his residence. Born in Troy, N.Y., he was the son of the late W. Earl and Olive K. Gould Lawrence. He resided in Waterford during his formative years and in Clifton Park for the remainder of his life. He was educated in Waterford and was a graduate of LaSalle Institute (Class of 1942) in Troy. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the So. Pacific and Phillipine Theater as a Second Class Petty Officer with the U.S. Naval Amphibious Forces. After serving our country, he attended and graduated from the N.Y.S. Veterans Vocational School and later from H.V.C.C. (night division) and also attended Siena College. Mr. Lawrence retired in 1980 from the Watervliet Arsenal after 33 years of service as an industrial electrical maintenance supervisor in the operations division. He, along with his wife, attended the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church for many years, happily serving wherever the needs existed. He especially loved choral and quartet singing. His hobbies included hunting and fly-fishing for most freshwater species in N.Y. and Vt. streams and lakes. He was also an avid fly tyer for the sport for over 50 years for friends and himself. Mr. Lawrence was a life member of the Waterford VFW Memorial Post 5800 and had also been a member of the Waterford Masonic Temple. Alan is survived by his loving wife Ruth of 59 years and several cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church, 713 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park, N.Y. 12065. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be held in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Mrs. Lawrence wishes to express her sincere appreciation to the Stratton VA Hospital for the wonderful care that Mr. Lawrence has received over the years as well as to Community Hospice of Saratoga for their care. The family desires, that in lieu of flowers, contribution be made to the Clifton Park Center Baptist Church (address above), in memory of Alan F. Lawrence.
