She was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Mary Ryan Rainey. Margaret was born in Water-vliet, grew up in Loudon-ville, and raised her family in Menands with her beloved husband, Joseph A. Margaret was a very devout person of faith and member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Menands and was active in the Rosary Society there. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and colleagues. She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Gerard J. (Kathryn) Abbott of Cockeysville, Md., Kathleen (Howard) Jackson of Altamont, David A. (Kimberly) Abbott of Baldwinsville, N.Y. and Susan (Joseph) Viscuso of Delmar; and her cherished and treasured grandchildren, Kenneth, Matthew, Tara, Erica, Andrew, Michael and Emily. A special thank you is extended to Community Hospice of Albany for the special care given to Margaret during her illness. Mrs. Abbott you will be missed! I will never forget your smiling face! I was so proud to be your teachers pet and believe me, there was never a teacher after you that thought I was as wonderful as you did! I thought of you so often over the years and was so delighted when I would run into you and you would assure me that I was still your favorite student. You always made me feel special, you always made learning fun and you always let me have new crayons even if I didn't really need them. Bless you! Love Dodee

Gerry,Kathy,David,Susan, and all your babies...I'm so sorry to hear of your Moms passing. I just loved her! She was a wonderful woman, and I always enjoyed chatting with her...her laugh and smile will always be with me. She was not only a great teacher, but a wonderful friend. The old days in Menands...we were all family back then. I miss those times, but memories are a treasure. My prayers are with you all. Remember...to be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord...she is dancing with your Dad right now! Happy in God's Presence. I hope you find as much peace in that as I have.
God Bless you all.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of your Mom. She was my childrens teacher when they went though Menands School, they loved having her as a teacher and going to her class. My Mom always had alot of fun when they worked together at school as well. She also had a big smile whenever she saw me at school and used to tease me when I was on the School Board...calling me "Mr. Smith". I'm sure she will be missed.

To the Abbott Family,
My daughter had Mrs. Abbott in first grade in 1987. What a lovely woman who was funny, caring and lively. She will be remembered fondly by Cara (Longtin) and me. Cara actually enjoyed going to school having Mrs. Abbott as a 1st grade teacher. With heartfelt sympathy.

Hi everyone,
It's hard to imagine a world without Peg Abbott. She had a way of lighting up a room whenever she saw a new face enter.
