Spark and I played pool together when he was at DePauw (1966-68. He managed the campus pool hall, I was a Greencastle high school student. We also worked odd-jobs that he rustled up-mainly clearing brush. He and I were good friends. He gave me solid advice. I have thought about him often the past 6-decades. I just found out about his passing. I was privileged to call him my friend, even though I let him down at times. Kirk Hammond, 2024, La Jolla CA

From brother Will:
You are missed greatly; it was always good to see you when we hooked up. The visits with us in Florida were great! We really enjoyed having your company. Part of me is with you.
I really miss talking with you on our frequent phone calls.
You left a great legacy behind; your son Geoffrey.

Sparky was my first boss and a good friend back in the early 1970s. He taught me how to work hard; my first real job was at Gallagher's Fish Fry. (I wore bell-bottom pants and had long sideburns back then. I still do play guitar.)
Although it's been a long time, I had been thinking of Sparky recently, at various times.I will always remember him very fondly.
Spark's parents were also truly awesome. I remember the evening George II compassionately fed a vagabond on his fried fish and french fries at the old fast-food site, next to Beckert's Garage, before the Arsenal took the property....Twenty years later, I helped open a soup kitchen in Utica, to feed hungry people.
The Gallaghers certainly taught me a lot about life, all for the good. They were a part of my personal formation for eight years.
Thank you.

To Geoffrey, Janet, Will, and all who loved Sparky.... He was a man of few words, but he definitely had the large "Gallagher" heart. His wry smile will be missed. He's with his folks now, making fish fries I'm sure.
We're so sorry for your loss.
Janet, Jane, Bob and the rest of the family.

Sparky was a friend to many, I'm glad to be a member of that group. He loved life, had a wonderful outlook, and was respected by everyone who had the pleasure to know him. For each of us there is a void. a sense of loss but we can take comfort knowing he now in a far better place.
