Abriel, Theodore J. ALBANY Firefighter Theodore J. Abriel, 44, died Monday, February 19, 2007 in the line of duty while serving as acting lieutenant of the Rescue Squad. Born in Albany, he was the dear son of Gladys C. Hart Abriel and the late Warren W. Abriel Sr. Ted was a 1981 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and was a 20 year veteran of the Albany Fire Department. He was a member of the Local, State and Federal Firefighters Unions and unit leader of the Albany Firefighter's Honor Guard. Ted was the owner and operator of Firefighters Embroidery and had worked previously for 10 years for the Golub Corporation. He also had coached in the Westland Hills Little League when his children were playing baseball. He was the beloved husband of Linda Torrisi Abriel; cherished father of Christopher, Matthew, Teddy Jr. and Erin Abriel; dear brother of Warren W. Abriel (Mary Theresa), Linda A. Meservey (Bruce) and Henry J. Abriel (Janet); son-in-law of Mary Sorell and the late Augustine Torrisi; brother-in-law of Paul Torrisi, Midge Siler, Tony Torrisi and Aaron Sorell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and brother firefighters. Funeral services with full departmental honors will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Palace Theater, Albany. A private family viewing will be held Thursday in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
