I know we hadn't spoken since high school, but I'm glad we had the chance to reconnect online over the last few months. I'll miss you at the reunion and I hope you're continuing to touch the hearts of the company your keeping in heaven. Love and prayers to you, your family, and friends.

Katherine,
I had the pleasure to be part of your life in caring for you at Hanscom AFB. Your endearing smile and infinite grace will always be remebered. My 9 month daughter has your namesake and through her you will always be remebered. To your family except my condolences.

Katherine,
The first time I met you at St. Michael’s primary school I had to look up at you because you were so much taller than me! All of a sudden there was an ‘American girl’ in our class! And on that first day in Mr. Cronin’s class you showed me how to do joined-up handwriting. I often think now I have you to thank for that! Although I wasn’t a popular kid at school and was bullied, this never stopped you becoming friends with me, even though some of the other girls gave you a bit of stick for it.
You were a great friend to me. I will never forget the night we had a sleep over at your house in Prestwich, Manchester. I was scared to go asleep because Eric had said the first one that fell asleep would have water poured over them ha ha! And someone knocked all the videos off the shelf at the video shop across the road! I think that was your 11th birthday. And of course there was our great singing in the church choir! But you always got the tambourine and I didn’t!
I was really disappointed when you left school to move back to the states. Although I don’t recall the photo I gave you of the “piece of English sky” you mentioned to me a few months back. You gave me a green soap in the shape of a horse so you got the bad deal there! And when you said “goodbye”, I sat on the steps in the school playground on my own and cried because one of the only people that would talk to me was leaving.
I was delighted when you back in touch with me after all this time. I had often wondered how you were but had no way of contacting you. In amidst the messages we had sent to each other over the last few months, it struck me how brave you were. And you were never bitter. Although maybe I am bitter. But Katherine, I know I will see you again one day.
To June, Andrew and Katherine’s family and friends my thoughts have been with you over the last few weeks and I am so so sorry for your tragic loss. I have asked the priest at St. Michael’s to mention Katherine’s name in mass as I couldn’t think what else to do.
Thanks for being my friend Katherine, even if it was for a short time. I will never forget you. x

My deepest sympathies on the loss of such a "rare jewel" to all that knew and loved her...and more so for those whose lives she'd yet to touch.
Do believe I'll never leave you:
Always I'll be in your heart.
Don't forget my soul is near you:
Death might take my presence from you,
Yet we'll never be apart.

You were so brave, strong and beautiful - we thank you for coming to spend time with us in England so near to the end. We all love you, admire you and miss you very much. We have planted a 'Tiffany' Camellia tree in our garden and it is flowering beautifully to remind us of you always. All our love and thoughts are with Auntie June and Andrew.

a week today,
we said goodbye.
a week today,
oh, how we cried.
we miss you as much
as we did that day;
sometimes more than
words can say.
you have left a hole
in all our hearts,
because we must live
our lives apart
don't you be sad
you are now free -
an angel you will
always be.

The first time I met Katherine was when Andrew brought her to our home for Easter last year.
Katerine really seemed to enjoy being amongst this rather large and hectic gathering. When things settled down a little I had a chance to speak with Katherine.
During our conversation Katherine told me about her cancer and her battle to beat it the best she could.
I had just met this woman and I couldn't stop my eyes from welling up. Katherine never showed an ounce of fear or "why me" attitude, she spoke of things she hoped to accomplish and her relationship with Andrew. I could not help but be totally amazed and in awe of this beautiful brave young woman.
The next time we met was over the summer at our niece Kristin's wedding. Katherine and Andrew had just become engaged. They planned their wedding on Veteran's day. From my conversation with Katherine, being a veteran was very important to her so she was going to include this on their big day.
I have kept Katherine in my prayers since meeting her. When we were called on Friday and informed that Katherine did not have much time left, I prayed that God would grant Katherine a quite and peaceful passing.
I know our family was proud to have her as our niece. We were all very fortunate to have this wonderful woman enter our lives, if only for a short time.
Katherine will forever be in our hearts.
Sweet dreams Katherine
Love
