Nancie Howard Obituary

HOWARD Nancie Arden Howard, age 52, passed away quietly February 21 after a brief illness. Arden was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Arden was in the first graduating class of Edward H. White High School and went on to the San Francisco Art Institute where she nurtured her talents for the creative arts. Arden was a lover of life and a person who was willing to go that extra step to help anyone she felt might need it. Her artistic ability and her devotion to her many adoptive cats always brought a smile to her friends and family. Arden's quick wit and stubbornness in supporting what she believed in will be missed by all. With her passing, Arden leaves behind many fond memories of good times for all that knew her. Arden is predeceased by her sister Paige M. Simpson. Arden is survived by her beloved husband James D. Howard, mother, Nancie Williams, father, Fred Simpson, mother-in-law, Emmie Howard (Harry Rowe), father-in-law Jim Howard, sister, Blair Rapanick (Kenny), brother-in-law, David Johnson, adored nieces and nephews, Tyler Rapanick, Chase Johnson and David L. Johnson, aunt, Virginia Cobb, uncle, Allan Cobb and cousins, Jonathan Cobb (Doria), Leisa Norwood (Phil) and many other dear family and friends as Arden never met a stranger. A private memorial service will be held by the family. A celebration to honor Arden's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Arden's name to the Mission House, 800 Shetter Ave., Jacksonville Beach, FL, 32250. 904-241-6767. Brian and I just heard about Arden's passing on a recent trip to Jacksonville. It has filled our hearts with sadness that she no longer walks on this earth but we know that she will continue to live among us in spirit. She was a very special woman and we are all better people for knowing her. May you find comfort in your memories, your family and friends. Love always, Candace and Brian Christe

Jamie, Blair, Nancie, Fred and Family,

It’s difficult to convey how much I will miss Arden. She gave me a pillow that has the old saying ‘You’ll always be my best friend – you know too much about me’. It’s true – all those things I know about Arden are wonderful, endearing memories. Memories that begin with sadness for what is no longer, but lead to the laughter and joy that was the heart of my best friend.

Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Much love,
Jan

I was deeply saddened to read that Arden had passed away. She was the first secretary I hired as FCCJ Kent Campus Dean. Arden was a wonderfully talented individual who was a delight to be around. I will always remember her as I view her painting of Edger Allen that hangs in my office that she painted when she was 15. It will remind me her youthful, positive, spirit she shared every way she could. She will be sorely missed.

I first met Arden and Jamie many years ago at the Museum. From day one, Arden could light up a room with her smile and wonderfully cheerful disposition. One of my fondest memories is seeing Arden walking hand in hand with my daughter Mae, taking her off on an adventure through the Museum. She is missed and cared for by our family. Our love and prayers go to Jamie and the entire family in this time of loss. We are all better people for having Arden in our lives.

Family,

Arden will be greatly missed. She was a very caring person with a beautiful smile. She is no longer with us but a sign that she has been here still remain. The purple butter flies, tape, folders and of course the purple pens.

God Bless

I first met Arden and Jamie when we all worked at the Museum of Science & History. Arden and Jamie always seemed like a great match...

I am saddened by your loss. All of you are in my prayers and thoughts.

Words can never fill the emptiness of a loss like this. Maybe knowing how many people care -- even those you have not seen for a while -- can help a little.

I met Arden while working at North Campus. She use to come to see her husband and had to pass by my desk. Arden use to wear this pretty black and blue dress that I thought looked fabulous on her and her orange hair that brought out the fun in her. Her personality was great and she had a sweet spirit. Although I am no longer at North Campus, I missed talking to her and from time to time I think about her. This came as a suprise to me however, God don't make any mistakes for she is in a better place.

Jamie, keep the faith. My prayers are with you and the rest of the family.

Dearest Jamie, Blair, Nancie and all of the family and friends.

You are all in my thoughts, there are no words to properly express the loss of a loved one. Arden had a way of making the worst day better and even though I had not seen her in years, I still think of a wonderful smile and a kind word form a great person. My live was made better by knowing her, and sader for her passing.
