Frederick Wrede Obituary

WREDE Frederick Sr. USN (Ret.) Frederick Wrede Sr., age 71, of Maumee, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, in Swan Pointe Care Center. He was born May 1, 1935, in Toledo to Herman and Cora (Evans) Wrede. Fred made his 27 year career as a Machinist's Mate Chief in the U.S. Navy, but also served in the Merchant Marine and on freighters in the Great Lakes - even working the 1965 season on the Edmund Fitzgerald. He was a friend of Bill W. for years. Fred enjoyed fishing, gardening and joking with his friends and family. Fred is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Frederick (Cha Cha) Wrede Jr. of Owasso OK, Patricia (Richard Thornton) Wrede of Jacksonville, FL, and Cheryl (Larry Encinas) Wrede of Toledo; grandchildren, Michelle, Renea, Jacob, Garren, Makenah, Izabella, and Amanda; great- granddaughter, Peyton; sister, Anna (Norman) Kubicz of Toledo and brother, Herman of Hollister, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Edward Wrede; brothers, John Wrede and Larry Wrede; son, Eric Wrede and granddaughter, Tessa Wrede. Arrangements were entrusted to Urbanski Funeral Home, LaGrange at Dexter Street, 419 244-4611. Fred's services were private and he will be entombed with honors in Arlington National Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.

Fred,

We all know that you have gone to a far better place,where there is no more pain and sorrow. Although you will be dearly missed, your legacy will continue on in your family. Our time aboard USS Henley DD 762 was one of fond memories. We knew eachother as a shipmate, as we were aboard at the same time. Our condolences to your family are extended from all the shipmates that knew you.
