To Laura and Janelle and all of your family:
I just read of Paul's passing on the CDH website and was just stunned when I saw Paul's name. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Paul fondly from high school. He was a great guy then and I am sure grew up to be a wonderful husband and father. My very sincere sympathies to all of your family. Know that he is always with you and is safe and without pain, resting in God's loving arms.

In prayer and sympathy,

Kathy DuBois Roland

Paul first joined IMON in 1996 and I first met him at either the 98 or 99 Carlisle event. Always a jovial guy with nothing but good intentions. Paul owned more Merkurs (specifically Scorpios) then anyone I have known.

Paul was also the initial inspiration and helped with a portion of the original links for the Merkur Desktop website.

R.I.P Paul.

Paul truely was the Merkur man from Minnesota. Many a parts were shared across this continent.
May some of his old Scorpios keep on rolling in his honor.

I have so many great memories of Paul and his sons; Drew & Alex attending the Carlisle,PA Ford shows either in his Merkur or someone in elses. He loved to share his knowledge with his fellow enthususiasts when ever anyone asked. Sometimes, you didn't even have to ask... he was just a great resource!
I am honored to have been his friend and I will truly miss him. Paul was also loved by many fellow Merkur enthusiasts everywhere.
My heart and prayers go out to the entire family for your loss.
The memories of Paul will forever be in my heart.

I just learned about Paul's passing and am sorry I wasn't able to visit with his family and friends...

I remember the day Paul got his first Super Beetle and I recall he took a comical amount of joy driving it. My memories or him, even after all these years is so clear... I remember specific albums we listened to at his house. He was my tennis partner at Cretin. We talked about everything. We shared a lot of ideas about life. He was one of the most honest and sincere people on the planet and he will be missed. I hope his wit, his kindness, and his undauntedness will carry through in the lives of his family and those who loved him.

I am sorry for your loss. Paul was a boyhood friend of mine at St.Mark's and Cretin. We were altar boy partners, worked at the Red Barn Restaurant, played hockey on Saturday nights at the St.Thomas College outdoor rink and hitchhiked home every day after cross-country practice. I did not see Paul after high school(my fault) but the memories are good and his friendship was genuine. Heaven is brighter today because of Paul.

To the family of Paul,
My condolences for your loss.
I enjoyed hearing Paul's "war stories" from the technical industry in the 1980's.
By an incredible coincidence we struck up a conversation at Keegan's MOB party last year and discovered each of us had at one time been on the payroll of St. Paul Academy. He had installed the Wang server there around the time or immediately before I started work in the Maintenance Dept.
With Warmest Regards,
Your friend,

We will certainly miss the intelligent, witty, and humorous trivia player 'Wog'. His last question, come-from-behind victories were both bewildering and, quite frankly, somewhat annoying. I speak for all trivia players at the establishment north of the weave when I say our thoughts are with his family. Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss.

Paul seemed to do everything with passion, gusto and aplomb. Considering his love for Volkswagens, would it be too flip to say that his life possessed fahrvergnügen?

I was greatly saddened to hear of Paul’s passing. It is impossible to adequately express my thanks for the innumerable rides during high school in his yellow bug, the one-of-a-kind camping trip to the boundary waters, but most of all, his unwavering friendship!
His tremendous wit, sense of humor, and continuous questioning of the status quo will be greatly missed. The underground newspaper he published our senior year in high school was absolutely beyond insightful and was simply the tip of the iceberg showcasing Paul’s incredible talents…I still have a copy and when I look at it I am continually reminded of what a wonderfully creative, innovative, talented and special friend we all had in Paul. God Bless, God Speed, rest well my friend!
