It’s Almost Coming Up 16 Years Since You Been Gone And I’m Still In Disbelief. As A Child U Was Dad But In The Beginning Stages Of My Teen Years You Started To Become My Best friend As Well. You Had A Certain Ease When It Came To Parenting Me. I Think It Came From You Having Belief In Me. You Had Faith In Ya Boy lol You Were Always Building Me Up. I’m So Grateful For That. I’m So Grateful To Have Known You As Dad. You Always Emphasized Being A Better Man Than You At The Time I Never Understood The Push For That Till I Got Older. I’ve Learned And Figured So Much On My Own As A Man And For The Longest It Just Felt So Unfair. I Was Very Observant As A Child. I Revert Back To Conversations And Situations To Help Me Maintain. Those Moments Are For Certain Treasures In My Brain I Keep Close. I’ll Never Forget You Took Me To My First NBA Game. The Wizards Were Playing The Heat . It Was Halftime And You Were Picked To Participate In The Halftime Show. You Had To Make A Layup , A 6 Ft Shot , A Free Throw, And 3 Pointer. I Was So Nervous For You Because I Knew Basketball Wasn’t Your Forte But You Was Cooking That Night Man. Cooking So Much You Messed Around And Won Tickets To Vegas. The Moment Was Unbelievable. I Still Think About That And Just Laugh. You Were The Biggest Kid I Knew And I Loved That. All The Crazy Things Of This World And You Still Had That Inner Child Like Excitement. I’d Like To Believe I Carry That As Well Lol But Man I Miss You More And More Everyday. I Think About The Man You Would Have Been In 2025. You Was Really Catching Your Stride . Pops I Love You And Want You To Know Ya Son Never Gave Up And Never Will

Hey B, still can't believe you're gone, seems like it was only yesterday when I cried to you about missing Mr. Brown! Who will keep me in line now? Who will always tell me to CALM DOWN and STRAIGHTEN UP!(smile)...it's amazing how God put people in your life for a reason and a season...I thank him for you...the BIGGEST brother I had...I'll miss all the jokes and laughs we had...joning on everybody from you and your friends to me and mine! Because of you...I feel even CLOSER to an old friend (Meika) so now there aren't just pics to remind me of you...there is an adorable little girl too!

From the beginning Terry treated me like family and he remained my brother. We saw each other over the years, him greeting me with a big hug n kiss on the cheek, officially dubbing me "bubbs" or "bubbles" always with a smile, always with love, as if time had never passed. Ms. Pat, Saquera and I havent seen you in years, but we send our love to you and your family. Terry was a friend of mine, he was loved, and he will not be forgotten.

As I sit here with streams of tears flowing down my face reading how you touched so many lives. Whether it was with your laughter, your beautiful smile or even those bright eyes that you passed onto our beautiful daughter. There are things that we don’t want to happen but have to accept, things we don’t want to know but have to learn, and people we can’t live without but have to let go. It’s very hard for me to accept the fact that your not here and how I’m going to explain to Terrian who’s not old enough to understand. It's only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth -- and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up, we will then begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had and that you did that night. There’s not a day that don’t go by that I don’t shed a tear or think about you. I chose to love you in silence, for in silence I find no rejection. I chose to love you in your loneliness, for in your loneliness no one owns you, but me." I can’t forget about you I see you everyday through Terrian who constantly reminds me of you. Know that the battle is over and you no longer have to worry. Continue to watch over us as we fight these battles here on earth. I love you forever and always until we meet again.

First I would like to send my deepest sympathy to the whole Mastin family. I've know Vincent ( Terry Smoody) for about 25 years, all thought I have not seen him in about 10 years Vincent was still to me a very good & dear friend of mine. I will all ways cherish all good memories that I have of him. I remember the time that may parents could not buy me a new pair of sneakers for the first day of school, Vincent took the brand new pair of fila's that he had worn once or twice of his feet and gave them to me and said " can't have my folks going to high school for the first time not fresh" that just was the kind of dude he was, very giving and thoughtful. You will truely be missed but never forgotten. Your friend from Boones hill road & Park Berkshire Antuan.

LIFE ISNT MEANT TO BE LIVED FOR EVER...WE ARENT SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHEN A PERSONS TIME IS UP, IF WE DID; THEN THE PHRASE "LIVE TODAY LIKE ITS YOUR LAST" WOULD BE TAKEN LITERAL. JUST FROM THE TIME I KNEW OF SMOODY AND THE SHORT TIME I'VE KNOWN HIM I BELIEVE HE MADE EVERY DAY COUNT.

Just about 14 years ago now …. A young man assisted in carrying one of the most important men in my life to safety from a very dangerous situation. The young man was Terry, and because of that Durrell (my big brother) is here today…

Pat, Jermaine Sr., Marquita & Family

Believe me when I say, we as a family (The Chan’s) understand exactly how you feel. We know the saddest you feel in your heart right now. We know that there is no one that will ever be able to replace your son and brother. We hope that you find peace knowing that Terry now rest in the hands of our heavenly father. We understand that next few weeks and months will be difficult, as you reflect on the special moments that you all have shared but as time passes know that God will heal your broken heart. We will keep you in our prayers, but know that if you need a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen or a hand to hold, we will always be there for you, as you did the same for us 13 years ago. We share in your sorrow!

As a mother, your children always have the key to your heart. On Sunday, Terry got the best key of all, the key to heaven to spend eternity with God. Having been in your shoes 13 years ago, we know how you feel. We know Joe will look out for him in Heaven, with the two of them together; God’s got something on his hands now.

To the family of Terry aka Bones... I just want to share my sincerest and deepest sympathy on your lost. This is not just a lost for you, but for so many who Terry touched during his short time here. I have so many fond memories of him, that I can only feel blessed to have been able to call him my friend. Never did her ever want anything more for me than for me to be okay, and I am so grateful that the last time he did see me... I was!! He grinned, nodded his head and I never saw him again, until I looked into his daughters eyes as she smiled at me one day and I said... "you know what.. you remind me of my friend" I didnt go into detail.. she just smiled some more.. and I smiled back.... just like he did with me that day.....Thank you Terry, for seeing so much in me when I wasnt able to.. Thank you Terry for treating me like a person always.. Thank you Terry for not throwing my past into my present ... most of all .. thank you for understanding...because it really helped me make sense of the world when the world seemed senseless..........kinda like now
