I can't believe that it's been a little over a year since you've been gone. I can close my eyes and still see your smiling face and still hear your booming laugh! Every time you come to mind I always remember how you liked to do everything big. You hugged big, joked big, laughed big...We had last spoken late 2000 in which you had gushed about your growing family. You were enthralled by Sherrone and how she took charge of your children as if they were her own. You sounded so grateful and in love when you spoke of her. You were thrilled at talking about your newest addition to your family and how well the other children were doing in school. It was great to hear you so happy and you were truly so fullfilled with your new life and family. You really got a kick out of bragging about all of the good things in your life and rightfully so. I hope in reading all of these entries your wife and children will know that so much emotion and support is here for them. I'm just glad that there are so many good memories still floating around about you and we can all still smile and laugh about them all even though tears may still fall. Many blessing and prayers are said for you and your family and may this Easter season be a rebirth of love for you all.

I can't believe it's been a little over a year, but it still seems like only yesterday that we were talking and laughing on the phone. I was looking through my photo album tonight and came across some old pictures of us back in our partying days! Those were truly fun times for us. Boy did we party hard and every single weekend we were up in somebody's party. Those memories brought a smile to my face. And then, I turned the page, and there was your smiling face on the front of your obituary and suddenly tears came to my eyes. In life, we try to make sense of all that this crazy world has to offer, we wonder why things happen the way they happen, why they happened, etc. But, one thing I do know is despite all, you were a loving person and you loved your wife so much and talked about her and the kids all of the time. And you loved your extended family. I know I've said this before in one of my previous messages, but, I will always remember the fun times we had together growing up. Me, you and Trey were the closest cousins ever. We had so many good times!!! Remember how we would pile up in my mother's burgany Aerostar minivan and spend the entire day down Haines Point walking, sitting, drinking, singing, laughing and talking, or cruising around the park 1,000 times until the park closed. Or how about the parties my mother let you have in her basement. Thank you for that because it made me the most popular girl in McFarland Junior High School!Everyone would always ask me when we were having another party. Or remember when we lived together and I would spend hours in the bathroom getting ready for a party and you would scream to the top of your lungs that "by the time I got ready the party would be over" and then you would leave to go get dressed at Aunt Elizabeth's house! I remember when Denard and Portia were little kids and we would pile up in your 2-seater sportscar and just ride! I was so pressed to drive that car when in fact it was a piece of junk! smiles. We also had our share of bad times, but in the end, we were becoming close again. And suddenly, GOD had other plans for you and just like that, you were gone... Anyway, you know I'm an old lady now because our birthdays are only "1" day apart and it's time for me to go to bed (it's 12:19am!!!!) But, since you were on my mind, I thought I'd pop in for a little chat!
With love, your cousin, NEECY

Nardie, Nardie, Nardie,
You will be miss by us all. Anyone that knows you, had to love you. You were that kind of person. You were kind hearted, loving, and you would give anyone the shirt off your back. You have always been a family man. I know you and Jerome are having a ball. More than likely you and Jerome are talking with Mama (grandma) and talking about the crazy things y'all used to do. Especially when you all talk about Aunt Irene. Y'all used to have us crackin up. Those were the good ole days.
Love you much,
Your Aunt Marion

Wow,
I love you guys as a part of the River Terrace family but also because you guys are down to earth and basically "good people". Though I was devastated to hear about the loss of "big Denard",I know that we can't question these things and that we all must go on. Please have "lil Denard" give me a call and you guys always have my prayers.

Dear Sherron, Denard, Kierra and Brittney,
Words can not express my sympathy for the loss of your husband/father. I know that he is smiling down on all of you each and every day. I can remember how he would come up to River Terrace ES and be concerned about the growth and development of Denard, Kierra, and Brittney. In my line of work very seldom do you see a father that is involved with his children like Denard, Sr. was. I also know that he was a good husband to you Sherron, just by the way he embraced Keirra as his own.
I just want you all to know that I am praying that Denard Sr.'s love for his wife/children will provide you the comfort you need when you are feeling sad and/or lonely. Memories of his love can guide you through the weeks, months, and years to come.
Please know that I, along with your River Terrace family will ALWAYS be here for you. Just let us know whatever it is I/we can do to help ease your pain.
May the peace of the Lord comfort you today and always.

It's taking me nearly two weeks to sign this guess book and I know it's mainly because I don't want to believe Nardy is really gone--in the "physical sense". My cousin was the brother I never had & always wanted, considering I have "3" sisters. When we were younger, he was my best friend. Me, Nardy and my cousin Trey (Nardy's brother) were inseperable! It gives me great comfort that I was able to talk to Nardy just "one" day before GOD called him home. He called me on my cell phone while I was on my way to work and helped me to forget that I was stuck in traffic. He had a way of making me laugh and bringing a smile to my face, and he always ended his phone calls with "I love you cuz!" And this is the way I will ALWAYS remember my cousin. I will end this by saying to Sherron and the kids that I love you very much and I will forever keep all of you in my daily prayers!
With love, Cousin Neecy

To my big cousin Nardy I know you are here with me as I am typing this and I want you to know I love you and I miss you. I see your smile every time I close my eyes, I see you throwing people in the pool everytime I feel a cool breeze, I taste grilled food and think of you "burning" on the grill.

Denard, the Manigault household will miss your warm loving spirit in their household. We will miss beating you playing spades, sitting around listening to old music, and sharing updated family events. But most of all, I (Phyllis) will miss your LAUGH! Tony will miss a friend/brother who helped him get through some trying times.
To Sherron, Lil Denard, Porche, Brittany and Kierra: Always remember your husband's/father's greatness. He was a pillar of strength who always demonstrated the utmost care and love for others. Your husband/father always put protecting his love ones as top priority. He allowed no one to hurt you, which will not stop now. Always remember he is still with you every step of the way, to protect, guide, and love you because he is your Angel!
