KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Shirley Ann Long Beeson, 68, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Beeson was born Feb. 5, 1935, in Forsyth County, a daughter of Roy Johnson Long Sr. and Roxie Ann McGee Long. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, a loving mother and wife and a "child of God." In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers. Surviving are her husband, Stanley L. "Dee" Beeson of the home; two daughters, Sandra Kay Beeson-Groce and husband Billy of Oak Ridge and Angela Darlene Beeson of Madison; two sons, Dennis Lee and wife Brenda Beeson and Larry Dean and wife Theresa Beeson, all of Kernersville; a sister, Diana Lynn Guthrie of Kernersville; two brothers, James Richard and wife Beverly Long of Tampa, Fla., and Jerry Lee and wife Sherri Long of Mooresville; and nine grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Gospel Light Baptist Church by Dr. Bobby Roberson, the Rev. Frank Shumate and the Rev. Neal Eller. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Sept. 25, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Gospel Light Baptist Church Building Fund, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101, or a charity of the donor's choice.
