WALKERTOWN - Mrs. Mary "Louise" Reid Owens, 73, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at her residence. Louise was born in Stokes County on June 30, 1930, the daughter of the late Sherman and Hattie Yates Reid and the stepdaughter of Matt Reid. She was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Athlai Paul Pegram and her second husband, Spencer "Dale" Owens. Surviving are five sons, Steven Pegram and wife Debby of Walkertown, Bill Owens and wife Terryn of Raleigh, Jerry Pegram and wife Angela of Walkertown, Fred Owens and wife Leeann of Blowing Rock and John Pegram and wife Debbie of Belews Creek; two daughters, Marsha O. Story and husband Terry of Blowing Rock and Martha Westmoreland and husband Jeffrey of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Gretchen, Seth, Brianna, Paul, Haylee, Macy and Morgan; two brothers, Roy Reid of Germanton and Wayne Reid of King; and two sisters, Jinnie Smith of Walnut Cove and Marie Clontz of Julian. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, by Dr. Bobby Roberson and the Rev. Frank Shumate. Burial will follow in Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 5, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Gospel Light Radio Ministries, c/o Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
