KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Gertrude "Fluff" Flynn Ragland, of 943 N. Main St. died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at the Kate R. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Ragland was born in Lowell, Mass., a daughter of the late John F. and Julia Newton Flynn, and was owner of the Ragland's Florist Shop as long as health permitted. She was a member of the Kernersville Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Ragland; and two brothers, Thomas H. Flynn and Richard "Dickie" Flynn. Surviving are her husband, James R. "Jimmy" Ragland Sr. of the home; a daughter, Sandra Ragland Martin of Kernersville; four sons, Kemp Ragland of Kernersville, Richard Wade (Esperanza) Ragland of Raleigh, James R. (Jackie) Ragland Jr. of Walkertown and Dean Ragland of the home; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Madeline Venne of Pelham, N.H., Margaret (Charlie) BeLorme of Dracut, Mass., and Patricia (John) Farrell of Lowell, Mass.; three brothers, William (Ruthie) Flynn of Pelham, N.H., John (Irene) Flynn Jr. and Jimmy (Valerie) Flynn, all of Lowell, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Sheila Jenks Flynn of Dracut, Mass.; and a special niece and nephew, Madeline Venne Lynch and Gregory Venne. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Phil Hulen, with burial to follow in the Mount Gur cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
