Philip C. Sheffey

Philip Charles Sheffey, 18, of Rural Retreat died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008. He was a 2007 graduate of Rural Retreat High School and was a very loving and giving son. Funeral service was held Sunday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home with Jack King officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Wanda Sheffey; maternal great-grandparents, Buck and Hazel Ingo; and a great-uncle, Tommy Ingo. Survivors include his mother, Wendy Wingo; father, Wayne Sheffey; sister, Dawn Sheffey and Lee Corvin; brother, Matthew Sheffey; paternal grandfather, Gene Sheffey; maternal grandparents, Charles and Betty Wingo; paternal great-grandparents, Reed and Elizabeth Wohlford; four uncles, Charles A. Wingo, Darren Wingo, Dennis Sheffey and Mark Sheffey; two great-aunts and great-uncles, Connie and Allen Sawyers, Teana and Robert Hale; special niece, Kymlee Corvin; special nephew, Nicholas Wingo; and special cousins, Trudie Montgomery, Jason Montgomery, Abigail Montgomery, Andy Walke, Caroline Walke, Andrew Walke, Natalie Walke, Kara Wingo and Ginny Wingo. Memorial donations may be made to the Rural Retreat Rescue Squad or the Rural Retreat Volunteer Fire Department. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
