Alvin J. Viars

Alvin Jesse Viars, 66, of Wytheville died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Carrington Place at Wytheville. Funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m. at the Davis Cemetery. He was born Nov. 6, 1941, in Wythe County, son of the late Harry and Margie Edwards Viars. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Montgomery Viars; son, Alvin Jesse Viars Jr.; and a brother, Ronnie Viars. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Lynn Viars of North Carolina; son, Leonard Vincent Viars of North Carolina; sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Doug Snow of Barren Springs; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl Viars of Max Meadows, Wayne Viars of Austinville, Harry Viars Jr. and wife Mandy of Max Meadows, Charles Viars of Max Meadows; special friend, Gertrude Whittaker; and several nieces and nephews. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville was in charge of the arrangements.
