Virginia Brunk Obituary

Virginia Louise Hackler Brunk, 85, of Independence, formerly of Rural Retreat, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at her home. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Hall officiating. Interment was in the Mountain View Cemetery. She was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Cleo Fowler Hall. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, P. Garland Hackler; second husband, Stewart Herbert Brunk; and two brothers, Stewart Hall and Everett "Spider" Hall. Survivors include a daughter, Pamela H. Wagner of the home; grandson, Stacey Wagner of the home; sister, Ellen Dawn "Tooter" Cregger of Wytheville; and several nieces and nephews. Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat was in charge of the arrangements.

dear pam, stacey and family,
I was so sorry to hear of louises death. please know our hearts and prayers are with you. I remember living across the road from her and your father. They both were so kind to me even though i was just a little tyke and probably a holy terror too. I remember them sharing garden items with my mom who was struggling to raise us kids alone. All of these things were small gestures but those are the things i treasure the most still to this day. God bless you and yours.
