Brenda Sue Sutherland

Brenda Sue Salyers Sutherland, age 61, of Cedar Bluff, Va., passed away Tues., Oct. 14, 2008 in a Richlands, Va., hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Richlands, Va., and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Sylvia Dugger Salyers. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister and will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ruth Hill, Opal Margaret Lester, Mildred Meadows; and one brother, Arnold Bobby Salyers. Survivors: daughters, Vickie S. Osborne and husband, Jeff of Cedar Bluff, Va., Gail Carroll of Tazewell, Va.; one son, Larry Sutherland and husband, Tonia of the home; two sisters, Bonnie Ellen Byrd and husband, Kurt of Pounding Mill, Va., Shirley Gaynell Brewster and husband, Jimmy of Tazewell, Va.; three brothers: Henry Bert Salyers and wife, Jo of Pounding Mill, Va., Jimmy R. Salyers and wife, Linda of Christiansburg, Va., Gary Ray Newberry and wife, Rosie of Raven, Va.; six grandchildren, Miranda Carroll and boyfriend, TJ Johnson; Kelsey Sutherland and boyfriend, Jordan Robinson; Sylvia Carroll; Morgan Sutherland; Alicia Carroll and Hailey Sutherland; several nieces and nephews also survive; and a special friend, Vivian Sutherland. Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda Sue Salyers Sutherland was conducted Fri., Oct. 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Grady McGlothlin, Rev. Shane Breeding and Rev. Tim Lester officiating. Interment followed at the Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers were: Johnny Lawson, Derrick Howington, Kenny Howington, Bobby McCall, Shannon Rose and Dennis Hays. Friends called after 6:00 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 16, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va.
