William Mitchell Viars, 77, of Max Meadows died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008. Funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Max Meadows Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. N.R. Taylor and Dallas Jewell officiating. Interment was in the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. He was born April 6, 1931, in Wythe County, son of the late William Joseph and Ella Tate Viars. He was retired from Jefferson Mills in Pulaski and was a member of the Max Meadows Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as pianist. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Hundley Viars of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Steve Hasson, Becky and Randy Watson, all of Max Meadows; two sons and daughters-in-law, William David and Terri Viars, Ricky Dale and Billie Jo Viars, all of Max Meadows; three sisters, Audrey White of Pulaski, Pauline Doss and Emily Jones, both of Max Meadows; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert "Jim" Viars, J.W. and Judy Viars, all of Max Meadows; five grandchildren, Travis Viars, Donya Saunders, Casey Eversole, Randi McKinnon and Nicole Viars; three great-grandchildren, Tryson, Jazman and Cohen McKinnon; three stepgrandchildren, Jeremy Hassen, Deena Hassen and Amanda McGee; very special buddy, Dalton Arnold; and several nieces and nephews. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
