Mary and Drema,
Danny and I are both saddened by your loss. Our hearts and prayers are with your family in this most particular time of sorrow. I haven't really gotten to know everyone in the Gap. But most of those I have meet are really nice. Your family had been extremely nice to me when I married Danny. Our love goes with you.

Mary, Dreama and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss of Bobby. Although I didn't know him personally, I had talked to him several times here at the post office and he was always very nice to me. The number of people at the viewing is a testament to his standing in the community and you all have that to be proud of. If you need me or if I can do anything at all to make this a tiny bit easier on any of you I will. Again, I am so sorry.

DAD
I just wanted to let you know that I am so proud of you. You fought a war and you have the flag...It is hard to know that I will never see you again, but I know that you are not suffering and no more pain...When God opened his arms and said let's go home....You was so much at peace and the look on your face has said it all...Dad it will be hard to know that your shoulder is not there, but you built two strong women to carry on...Mom is really sad and it is so hard, but what great memories you have left for us to cherish....I know you are in a lot better place then we are, but it is so hard to share you with God.....I know that you are enjoying every second of your time in Heaven and I really do understand....I know the road will be rocky, but with you in Heaven I also know that you will touch us with your hand on our shoulder and say it will be alright...Do not cry...You would not bleieve all the friends that came to the house and Oh...how many people was at the church...daddy it was a lot...You had so many friends that cared for you and it is so amazing to see how many people you touched in your life....I love you Daddy and there is no daughter that has a dad could be any more proud of there father and who and what you made me then myself....I will take care of Mommy with your lending hand...Your two beautiful grandchildren are having it so rough....they have your memories and that is so good...but it is still so tough...Kerry is missing you so much and understands that you are so much better off, but the hurt for all of us is so hard...it feels like that someone has removed our heart and there is a empty spot just for you...Good bye Dad and I will see you someday.....This is the last letter I will get to write to you, so please just know how much we loved you and it is so hard to let you go.....Love your daughter Dreama

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Mr. Woody has been an inspiration to all within the area! Mr. Woody and his wife & family have always treated all of the blacks within the community with just as much respect as anyone else!

I was a former member of Tynes Chapel (up dry fork hollow) and I got ordained and now I pastor in Norton, VA. I will be unable to make the funeral services but I wanted it to be known that he was a good man!

I rarley got gas and food at the station because I lived in Bluefield...but my family members who live in "The Gap" really appreciated & loved him!"

My condolences to the family
