Iris Elizabeth "Betty" Hedrick Holbrook, 79, of Wytheville died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. She was born April 2, 1929, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Luther and Jessie Leedy Hedrick. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Holbrook; and a son, Broderick "Bo" Holbrook. Survivors include a son, B. Keith Holbrook of Wytheville; a daughter and son-in-law, V. Kim Holbrook Lambert and Kevin of Rural Retreat; two brothers, Ray Hedrick and Gustie, and Stanley Hedrick, all of Roanoke; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen H. Walters and Anna H. Umberger, both of Rural Retreat, and Hope H. Miller and Sam of Manassas; and beloved cat, Ugg. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.

Dear Keith & kim,
My dad Cloyd Leedy and Betty were first cousins. You have my deepest sympathy at this time. Cloyd held a high regard for Aunt Jessie and her family. He often remarked of how he enjoyed Betty's friendily personality. Especially during a trip to Crockett with Uncle George Leedy around 1969.
