Edward Earl "Eddie" Whitely, 63, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at his home in Marion. He was a member of the McCready United Methodist Church, and the Local 669 National Automatic Sprinkler Union. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Whitely; son, Ricky Whitely of Marion; two daughters, Renee Grimwood of Woodbridge, Nancy Whitely of Marion; two brothers, Rodney Whitely of Upper Marlboro, Md., Bill Whitely of Saltville; three sisters, Sue Carney of Nashville, Tenn., Karleen Davidson of Saltville, Nyla Chapman of Saltville; five grandchildren, Timothy Neitch Jr., Jennifer Whitely, Huyana Whitely, Takoda Whitely, Bryan Hagy; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Roe officiating. The family received friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations would greatly be appreciated to McCready United Methodist Church. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville was in charge of arrangements.
