Roger Dale Christian

Mr. Roger Dale Christian, age 54, of Bandy, Va., passed away Sun., Feb. 1, 2009 at his home. He was born in Richlands, Va., and was the son of the late Kermit and Thelma Mitchell Christian. He had made his home in the Bandy, Va., area most of his life and was a former coal miner and a former Supervisor for the City of Aiken, S.C. He was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1972. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Christian. Survivors are: three daughters: Heather Efird and husband, Shelly, of Albemarle, N.C., Tosha Christian and fiancé, Jay Blackwell, of Reidsville, N.C., Traci Cox of Graham, N.C.; one sister: Debbie Christian of Bandy, Va.; special niece and care giver: Ashley Smith; special niece: Jessica Harmon; eight grandchildren: Kristen Lyell, Derek Jones, J.R. Justice, Andrew Cox, Kayla Elliott, Karmen Efird, Logan Harmon, and Christian Harmon; two nieces; and one nephew also survive. Funeral services for Roger Dale Christian were conducted Wed., Feb. 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Lawrence Hayes and Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Christian, Gabe Harmon, Greg Ray, Mike Tickle, James Meadows, and Johnny Sparks.
