Velma Paige McIlwee

Velma Paige Sult McIlwee, 81, of Strasburg died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. Funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at Stover Memorial Chapel with Pastor Keith Warren officiating. Interment was in Sunset View Memorial Gardens at Woodstock. She was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Wytheville, daughter of the late Walter Ray and Mabel Matilda Lewellyn Sult. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McIlwee; a stepdaughter, Eloise "Dee" Weatherly; a sister, Lois Vaught; and two brothers, Elmer Sult and Tommie Sult. Survivors include her children, Peggy Snider and husband, Robert, of Linden, Linda Couchman and husband, Richard, of Inwood, W.Va., Bonnie Heuring and husband, Thomas, of Springville, Ind.; stepchildren, Wayne McIlwee and wife, Alice, of Louisa, Kenneth McIlwee and wife, Martha, of Stevensburg; brothers, Eugene Sult and wife, Beatrice, of Norfolk, Dennis Sult and wife, Carol, of Wytheville; a sister, Nancy Cregger of Wytheville; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and special friend, John Baker of Fishers Hill.
