Jimmy Wayne Ball

Jimmy Wayne Ball, age 63 of Richlands, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sun., March 1, 2009 in a Winston-Salem, N.C., hospital. Born Jan. 7, 1946 in Richlands, Va., he was the son of the late Terry and Mattie Ball. He was a 1965 graduate of Richlands High School and was employed by Jewell Smokeless for 23 years. Jimmy was a woodcrafter and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Denny and Frankie Lewis Ball, and one sister, Dixie Brown. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Delores Ball; one daughter, Becky Powell and husband, Robert, of Cedar Bluff; one son, Cecil Ball and wife, Dawn, of Richlands; grandchildren, Nickoal Powell, Adriannah Ball, Jaycob Powell, Hayleigh Ball, Harlee Ball and Gabrayl Powell; five sisters, Kathleen Smith of Baltimore, Md., Pauline Looney of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Sue Auten and husband, Jack, of Gettysburg, Pa., Janice Sykes of Honaker and Geneva Berryman-Long and husband, Mike, of Wilmington, N.C.; one brother, Tolley "Bud" Ball and wife, Nancy, of Raven; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thurs., March 5, 2009 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with Brother Grady McGlothlin and Rev. Phillip Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Coleman, Ronnie Shinault, Doug "Bucky" Mullins and Darrell "Hobo" Anders. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tues. and Wed., March 3 and 4, at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va.
