Raymond Bomers Obituary

Raymond J. Bomers, 88, of 2805 Elmwood, died Friday, May 22, in a Denton, Texas, rehabilitation center. Memorial services were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Dr. Dan Garza officiating. Private burial followed in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. He was born July 23, 1920 in Grand Rapids, Mich. He had lived in Wichita Falls since 1974, moving from Indiana. He lived in Marion from 1953 to 1970. He was married to Myrtle Jacobs Oct. 22, 1942, and they were married 51 years. She predeceased him in 1993, one son, Charles G. Shaw, and his three sisters also predeceased him. He was in the 36th Infantry Division, also known as the Texas Division, during World War II. After the war, he went into manufacturing as a methods engineer. He began his career with the American Seating Company, Grand Rapids, Mich., where he was assistant chief industrial engineer. He became an executive (division superintendent) at Brunswick in Marion. He retired from Brunswick and joined IKD Corporation where he was chief manufacturing engineer - tooling and methods. He retired from IKD in 1982 at which time he was able to devote more time to his hobbies of golf, bridge and gardening.   Survivors include one son, Ronald G. of Jamestown, Tenn.; two daughters, Sharon R. Roberts of Krum, Texas, and Shirley K. Good of Peach Tree City, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310. This is a courtesy announcement by Bradley's Funeral Home, Marion.
