William Jackson "Bill" McClure

William "Bill" Jackson McClure, 85, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was born in Smyth County to the late Samuel Jackson McClure and Lucy Sturgill McClure. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hubble McClure. He was retired from Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute after 27 years of service. He was a member of Chilhowie Baptist Church. Survivors include his sons, Billy and Jo Ann McClure of Madison Heights, Max and Teresa McClure of Chilhowie; one brother, Gerald McClure and wife, Barbara, of Chilhowie; two sisters, Margaret Fore of Seven Mile Ford, Shirley Rowland and husband, Doug, of Wytheville; four grandchildren, Chris and Wendy McClure of Manassas, Michael Ray and Elizabeth McClure of Abingdon, Jason McClure of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Jody and Andrea McClure of Roanoke; 12 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Mae Roland of Chilhowie; a special friend, Ella Kegley of Marion; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, at Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with the Rev. Chuck Herrell and the Rev. Matthew Herrell officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Church Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home or any time at the home of Max and Teresa McClure 105 Evergreen Ct., Chilhowie, VA 24319.
