While teaching at Roanoke College, 1950?

On behalf of the Chemistry Department at Roanoke College, I send our condolences. Miss Russell was a woman ahead of her time. Very few women studied chemistry, let alone taught chemistry, in colleges at the time Miss Russell worked at Roanoke College. She served as a wonderful role model for the female students who followed her, and she paved the way for generations of female faculty members to come.
