Irene Johnson Stone

Irene Johnson Stone, 72, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at her home in Sugar Grove. She was a devoted member of the Sugar Grove Lifesaving Crew with 28 years of service and was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, J. Donald Stone of Sugar Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law; Don "Tinker" Stone and wife, Chris, and Albert "Porky" Stone and wife, Nita, both of Sugar Grove; three sisters, Ethel Johnson of Atkins, Violet Young of Sugar Grove, and Nancy Cook of Chilhowie; two brothers, Albert and Bobby Johnson, both of Sugar Grove; four grandchildren, Jewel Whitworth and husband, Justin, Amanda Crouse and husband, Dean, Donnie Stone and fiancée, Renee, and Joshua Stone and fiancée, Jessica; and several nieces and nephews.   Funeral services were held Sunday, July 5, at 4 p.m. at Sugar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Gwinn officiating. Burial followed in Comers Creek Cemetery in Grayson County. The family receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of service at the church.
