Charles Robert "Ta Ta" Walls, 70, of Ivanhoe died Sunday, July 5, 2009. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 7 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home with the Rev. Hal Lewis officiating. IVA Lodge 173 Independent Order of Odd Fellows will conduct a memorial service. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at the Odd Fellows Cemetery. He was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Wythe County, son of the late Helen S. Walls. He was a member of IVA Lodge 173 Independent Order of Odd Fellows and retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Survivors include his wife, Betty Walls of the home; a stepdaughter, Pam Shupe of Ivanhoe; three stepsons, Tim Monahan, Jeff and Robyn Monahan, Kenny Monahan and fiancé, Maretta Quesenberry, all of Ivanhoe; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Clinton King of Ivanhoe; a brother and sister-in-law, Nickie L. and Renate Walls of Evans, Ga.; six stepgranchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; three nephews and their wives, James "Happy" and Kalli King, Dirk and Leah Zettelmeier, Donald and Judy Walls; two great-nephews, Jason Stump and Kevin Zettelmeier; and two great-nieces, Katrina King and Kallista King. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Lead Mines Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 502, Austinville, VA 24312. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.
