Jane K. Ellis

Jane K. Ellis, 64, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at her home in Marion. She was born in Smyth County to the late George and Thelma Ashley Blevins and was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Blevins, and a sister, Pauline Blevins. She received her nursing certificate in Abingdon and had worked at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion for over 37 years. She will always be remembered for her kind, caring and generous nature. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Malcolm Ellis; two daughter, Sherri Sprinkle and husband, Phillip, of Abingdon, and Rochelle Harriger and husband John, of Marion; grandchildren, Dustin Morris, J.C. Harriger, Camille Catron, and Brandi Richardson; great-grandchild, Braylin Morris; sisters, Irene Stamper of Chilhowie, Daisy Taylor of Chilhowie, and Melanie Richardson of Marion; special best friend, Barbara; and several nieces. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Graveside services were conducted on Friday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at the Thomas Cemetery. Flowers were appreciated or memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Rd., Atlanta, GA 30329 or to Hospice of SWVA, 600 W. Ridge Rd., Wytheville, VA 24382.
