Edith Riley

Riley Edith Marie Dean Riley, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at Smyth County Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ray Riley, parents, Moses and Cora Hicks Dean, three sisters, Lucile Dowell, Margaret Riley, and Cartha Croy, and two brothers, Charles Dean and Meek Dean. Survivors include three daughters, Beulah R. McGhee and husband, George, Carol D. Blevins and husband, J.R., and Cora Sue Kimberlin and husband, Sherlock; four sons, John T. Riley and wife, Betty, James C. Riley and wife, Nancy, George Robert Riley and wife, Donna, and Larry R. Riley; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Josephine Rhea and husband, Bill. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Eller and the Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Burial will follow in the Middle Fork Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Riley's grandsons.
