HARRY LEE ISOM FLOYD-Harry Lee Isom, 60, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at his home. He was born December 10, 1948 in Galax, Virginia to Guy B. and Curtie V. Williams Isom. Harry is survived by: his wife: Margaret Smith Isom of Floyd; daughter and son-in-law: Carla and Phillip Thorpe of Wilmington, North Carolina; son Chad Isom of Stafford, Virginia; three grandchildren: Morgan Isom, Dylan Isom and Christopher Isom. Also surviving are four sisters, Janie Duncan, Mary Ruth Webb, Susie Goad and Mary Isom all of Galax, and three brothers, James Isom and Eugene Isom both of Galax and Ronnie Isom of Woodlawn. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family received friends Monday evening August 24, 2009 from 6 until 8 o'clock at Vaughan-Guynn. Funeral service was held Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the Cranberry Section, Woodlawn, Virginia with military rites by Grayson VFW Post 7726. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Lance Armstrong Foundation or a charity of your choice. A guestbook is available on line at www.vaughan guynn.com

I was very sorry to hear about Harry's passing. I worked with Harry at Volvo Trucks several years ago. His positive influence remains with me today. He was a good person. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He will be missed.

Carla, much love and warm thoughts of peace and comfort are with you (as they are always). But especially today, during this time of grievance, I wish for you and your entire family that an abundance of blessings be with you. May your memories live close in your heart as I know they are. Your dad was a wonderfully successful man. He exemplifies the ideal man, husband and father. I know he's greatly missed by you and all who knew him. Believe that he's gone graciously into the heavens reunited with, yet awaiting, many loved ones.
