Eleanor N. Morehead Eleanor Nell Morehead, 78, of Bland, the Mechanicsburg community, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at Edgemont Center in Wytheville. Funeral service was held Friday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Maurer officiating. Interment was Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. at the Mechanicsburg Cemetery. She was born Oct. 27, 1930, in Mechanicsburg, daughter of the late Edd and Reba Mae Melvin Stuart. She was a member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church and she enjoyed the weekly Senior Citizens' luncheons and get togethers with the Senior Citizens. She was a volunteer at Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Morehead. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry Jr. and Julie Morehead of Harrisonburg, Eddie and Patty Morehead of Bland; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Clara Stuart of Ashland; five grandchildren, Robbie Morehead, Chad Morehead, Stuart Morehead, Bobby Morehead and Heather Taylor; and three great-grandchildren. A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home in White Gate was in charge of the arrangements.

I am sorry to hear of Nell's passing. I remember Nell mostly when as a young girl I would visit Aunt Sally and how nice she was to me. May her family be comforted knowing she is in a better place now.
