Rachel Keen Sweeten Rachel Keen Sweeten, age 93 of Raven, VA, passed away Tues., Sept. 8, 2009 at a Richlands, VA hospital. Born Feb. 12, 1916 in Buchanan County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Joseph and Lou Alice Hagy Looney. She was a charter member of Souls Harbor Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hufford Keen; her second husband, Henry Sweeten; two brothers, Brady Looney and Theodore Looney; one sister, Faye Aldhizer; son-in-law, Donald Burke; daughter-in-law, Ina Keen and grandson, Samuel Burke. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Burke of Bristol, VA, and Sylvia Ratliff and husband, Ben, of Cedar Bluff; three sons, Jack Keen and wife, Dot, of Lebanon, Benny Keen of Bristol, TN, and Robert Keen and wife, Faye, of Salem; special daughter of the heart, Sherry (Big Baby) Smith of the home; one sister, Monnie Wilson of Austin, TX; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Jessie Street and Pam Robinette. Funeral services were conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 10, 2009 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, VA, with Rev. Jack Keen officiating. The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thurs. A private entombment followed at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. T. Patel and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Benevolent Fund of Souls Harbor Church, PO Box 500, Rosedale, VA 24280.
