William H. Bell William Herbert "Bud" Bell, 81, of Hiltons died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. at Hiltons Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Will Shewey officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ivanhoe. He was born in Ivanhoe where he lived until he moved to Kingsport, Tenn., and later Hiltons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Moss Bell; a sister, Mamie Bell Jackson; parents, Thomas E. and Lucinda Bell; and a stepdaughter, Bobbie Robinson. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bell; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Scott Gilbert; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tom and Pepper Bell, and Bill Bell; four stepdaughters, Julie Smith and husband, Mathew, Connie Hefflin, Kayla Brinager, Christy Robinson and husband, Michael; four grandchildren, Barton Gilbert, William Gilbert, Mathew Bell and B.J. Bell; 10 stepgrandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a faithful brother and sister-in-law, Muncie and Mary Moss; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. (service time) at Hiltons Memorial United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hiltons Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 10, Hiltons, VA 24258; or the American Cancer Society. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.
