John Staub Obituary

THOMASVILLE John A. Staub, 80, passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, August 5, 2008. He was the loving husband of Peggy L. (Thomas) Thieme Staub to whom he was married for 40 years. He was also the husband of the late Dorothy M. (Smith) Staub. Born October 8, 1927, in New Oxford, John was one of nine children of the late John R. and Blanche (Yingling) Staub. He retired in 1990 as vice president and general manager of Martin's Potato Chips in Thomasville following 20 years of employment. He attended church at the First Assembly of God in York. In addition to his wife, Peggy, John leaves five sons, Ronald J. Staub and his wife, Lilia of Hanover, David M. Staub and his wife, Linda of Port Orange, Fla., Jeffrey L. Staub and his wife, Deborah of Thomasville, William F. Staub and his wife, Debra of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Thomas J. Thieme and his wife, Heidi of South Pasadena, Calif.; a daughter, Kathy A. Mansbery and her husband, William of Lititz; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. John is also survived by a brother, James Staub of New Oxford; and two sisters, Mary L. "Sis" Orndorff and Dolores Smith, both of New Oxford. He was preceded in death by five brothers. The funeral service and burial for Mr. Staub will be private and at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Michael Bongiorno officiating. Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, is coordinating arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the First Assembly of God, 2270 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17404; or to the American Lung Association, 3001 Old Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
