(Asbury Park Press)

JANE ANN KERN
AGE: 70 FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP
Jane Ann Kern, 70, of Freehold Township, died Sunday, Aug. 31, in Pocomoke City, Md., after an automobile accident. Jane was born in Bloomington, Ill., and lived in North Plainfield before moving to Freehold Township in 1966. Before her retirement in 1998, Mrs. Kern was a principal account clerk in the Monmouth County Clerks Office for over 20 years. She was a member of GWRRA Chapter F, where she and her husband were Couple of the Year. She most recently was treasurer and Sunshine Lady. She also rode her own motorcycle trike in the Polar Bear Grand Tour each year and helped make chocolate for the Spokes-Women Motorcycle Club to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes. She made and cultivated friends wherever she went, including being a member of the Red Hat Society and a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. She was a 42-year member of St Peter's Episcopal Church, Freehold, where she held various positions, such as treasurer and member of the Altar Guild. She was completely computer literate, emailing friends all over the world and processing pictures she took herself to put in many creatively designed scrapbooks for her six grandchildren. Over the years, she enjoyed painting, ceramics, and Cats Meow collecting. She dearly loved her family with unbridled passion and made friends easily, including many in cyberspace. She had the power to brighten a room with her smile. She loved the freedom she had to do whatever she became interested in. Now she is free from the bounds of this life in a better place preparing a place for all the people she loved on the earth.
Surviving are her husband, Walter F. Kern; two sons, David Kern of Somerville, and Steven Kern of Boonton Township; a daughter, Susan McKenna of Middle Grove, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Jordan Kern, 11, Jayson Kern, 6, Ian Kern, 5, of Boonton Township, Connor McKenna, 10, Caroline McKenna, 8, of Middle Grove, N.Y., and Andi Jaye Kern, 2, of Somerville; and a sister, Carol Aldridge of Normal, Ill.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 33 Throckmorton St., Freehold. Burial will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Hi Walt
We so miss Jane already as we had contact with her almost every day on the internet ever since Dale's death 4 years ago. Seems strange not to get a message from Her each day.

What a beautiful person! Janie's friendship has meant a great deal to me and to everyone who was honored to be her friend. Aside from her love and friendship, I will miss exchanging stories of our grandchildren, who she adored and treasured so much. Rest well my friend.
