My respects to Joe's family. I didn't know him personally, however he looks like (photo) someone I could have been really good friends with.

I worked as an Airman on the SR-71 at Beale & Det 1 1975-1979.

I worked with Joe, and many of the other folks who have signed this guest book, from 1984, on and off, to 1993. I remember sitting there watching Joe make those beautifully perfect wire harnesses, listening to his war stories, but more importantly telling me what integrity, excellence, and service before self meant long before they became the AF core values! Rest in peace sir.

My memories of my brother Joe Allenger are very few. He was a very educated man and a perfectionist with everything he did. He had a great sense of humor. I love him very much and I will miss him dearly.
I know he's with our parents.

I remeber Joe as a great man who loved the Raiders. In the time I have known Joe, since 1995, I would have to say that his contributions to our military could not be measured. He was a teacher, a mentor and leader. I worked in the E/E Back Shop with him until 2003 and returned to the area only see him from time to time. It was good to know he was sporting the Raiders patch I had gotten him from Korea. He was very happy at work and even happier when I saw him with Ann. I feel fortunate to have worked beside Joe.

me, on a good day!

One of my fondest memories of my time at Beale AFB, was of the 1st time I made chilli for a Friday night after swing-shift get-togther. One of the younger guys asked me if the chilli was "Hot" and of course I said "No, look at Joe there just spooning it down." When asked Joe said it was just right and tassted good. So of course the guy took two spoonfuls and broke out in a hewavy sweat, never to eat my chilli again!

I have known Joe since 2000 when I first came in the Air Force. He was the first to train me in battery shop. He will be truly great guy who will be missed. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I've never met a more soft spoken person who always looked on the bright side of things. We could always count on Joe to have the answer to a problem and it was a real pleasure and honor to work with him.

Joe was a very fine man, a professional at work, a talented artist, a great friend and a loving husband to his wife Ann. All of us that knew him well have lost a special person in our lives. Joe never did anything half way; it always had to be done right. He was the type of person you love to have working for you. Always there and ready for any challenge.
Joe, knowing you was a real pleasure and losing you leaves a big hole in our lives. Now it is time for you to rest and know that you were our hero and the kind of man we all strive to be. Thank you!

Joe you will be truly missed. I have known you since 1979 and you always had a smile on your face. I know you put in a many of hours keeping both the SR-71/U-2/TR-1 and some of those old C models flying plus the T-38's and KC-135's. I know there numerous black world maintainers that will have you and your wife in our prayers.

My deepest sympathy for your loss Mrs. Allenger. I had the pleasure of working with Joe at Beale from 1991 to 1995 and learned so much from him. His work ethic and always positive attitude was truly infectious and as you well know he impacted the lives of more people than he ever knew or cared to take credit for.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May our fond memories of Joe truly bring you comfort. Joe will truly be missed by all that ever met him. He was a "one of a kind" individual. I first met him in 1972 at Utapao AB, Thailand and then served with him after he was hired out here at Beale in 1978. Joe never had harsh words to say about anyone and no matter how bad things were going, he always managed to put a positive spin on things. He educated us about life and the military, mentored us and taught us respect for ourselves and others. He will be remembered for his kindness, caring and the positive attitude he displayed towards the many people encountered. He truly will be missed but rememberd for all that he did for us and gave of himself.

Sincerely,

Ron Burton

Joe sure will be missed; I had the pleasure of working with Joe in the battery shop at Beale. Some people leave a permanent effect on you when you spend time with them. Joe was one of those people, he made me feel calmer and at peace just by being in the same room. There was something very special about that man, and I will miss him.
