Myra Carter-Jones Obituary

HARLEM, Ga. - Mrs. Myra Gail Carter-Jones of Shady Grove Drive in Harlem died on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at her residence. She was 56 years old. The memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, today, April 30, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The family will greet friends at the funeral home following the memorial service. Myra was cremated and burial will be a private service at a later date. Myra is survived by her husband, Richard Jones; her daughter and son-in-law, Mandy C. Carter Yancy and Anthony L. Yancy Jr., of Harlem; her grandsons, Michael D. Carter-Magee and Anthony L. Yancy III, of Harlem; her half-sister, Connie Alexander, of Alabama; her half-brother, Jack Alexander, of Ohio; her step-brother, Irwin Best, of Oregon; by a host of cousins and close friends. Myra was preceded in by her grandparents, Rev. Fred and Ruby Powell; her mother and step-father, Billie Gail Powell Lord and C.T. Lord; her father and step-mother, R.J. and Louise Alexander; her step-father, James F. Best; her son, Byron Dale Carter; her granddaughter, Antionia Colette Myra Yancy; her brother, Byron Dale Alexander; her aunts, Lucy Archer, Mabel Argenbright, Ann and her husband, Bob McFarland. Myra was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all her family members and friends who loved her. Her memory, however, will be a source of strength and peace to all those she left behind. The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, Georgia, 706.798.8886, is in charge of the cremation and memorial arrangements.
