Miller, Virginia
Virginia May (Bachtel) Miller, passed away peacefully, on February 22, 2011, 6 days before her 91st birthday, at home with her daughter, son-in-law, and her faithful K9 companion Buddy. She was born February 28, 1920, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Vernon O. and Edith (Dawson) Bachtel. She is remembered for her independence, dignity and desire to succeed. She strove to pass these characteristics on to her children. She was an accomplished pianist, artist and by profession, school teacher, teaching 4th grade at Monroe School in South Bend, Indiana. She married James F. Miller in 1980 and they travelled to exotic places such as China, Egypt and Greece, and settled in Mesa, Arizona in 1984. Preceding her in death are her husband, James F. Miller, sister, Mary Blakeman, son, Richard Paul Murrmann and grandson, Robert Murrmann. Surviving are her sister Dora Mathisen of Chatham, NJ; her children, Kent F. Murrmann (Suzanne) of Blacksburg VA, George J. Murrmann (Margaret) of Indianapolis, IN, Don N. Murrmann (Marilyn) of Kerrville, TX, Kathy J. Swanson (Robert) of Mesa, AZ, JoEllen DePaepe (Robert) of South Bend, IN; her daughter-in-law, Judy Murrmann of Beckley WV; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and her companion Buddy. Memorial services will be held in South Bend, IN., at South Lawn Cemetery, on March 12, 2011. Please visit MelcherChapelofRoses.com
