Hortencia Rivera Obituary
Hortencia (Tencha) Rivera, 80, of South Phoenix, passed away on March 3, 2011 and is in the safe arms of our loving Lord and Savior. Widow of Carlos H. Rivera (deceased), survived by her seven children. Two sons, Carlos and John Rivera and five daughters, Emily Rivera, Anna Montalbo, Susan Bracamonte, Alma Perez, and Laura Zendejas, fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and wife, a life-long restaurateur in the Phoenix area, who managed her mother's restaurant, La Casita Cafe and Lounge, later owned Rivera's Restaurant, and La Casita Restaurant with her husband, Carlos. On Friday, March 11, 2011, there is a short visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., a rosary at 9:30 a.m, and Catholic mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Basilica in Phoenix. Burial to follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley in lieu of flowers. www.lakeshoremort.com

In the name of Jesus we pray: Our Father Lord and Savior the one who gives us life and the one who calls us home from the life which he has giving us. We try to understand your reason for taking her life away. But we know she is in good hands with you even though we needed and wanted her to stay. In life we go through ups and downs, smiles and frowns, laughs and cries, joys and sorrows. It is a great number of things we endure in our lives that we do not understand. But we leave our lives in the hands of the one for whom we trust and love. Each day that we live our lives is filled with memories that continue to warm the heart. For which can never be replaced nor forgotten for they are stored in our minds and in our souls. Father God, I ask you to bring peace among this family as they mourn their loved one, who is a tenant in your house. Let them know that you are always there and you will heal their hearts as time goes on. Thank you Father for the love and support you have given us throughout our lives. Continue to give us grace and have mercy on our souls. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
